Upholding the Cause

of Chinese Democracy

A Summary of the activities of FDC since its 7th Congress

On 24th October 2003 the 7th Congress of Federation for a Democratic China (FDC) was held in Moerfelden-Walldorf, a city close to Frankfurt--the center for finance and aviation in Germany.

During the congress the 7th Council and Supervisory Council were elected by democratic procedures.

The 15 elected members of the council are: Sheng Xue(Ms.), Liang Youcan, Li Song, Cai Chongguo, Pan Yongzhong, Chin Jin, Pan Qing, Lin Fei, Qi Mo, Liu Gang, Shui Li, Wang Guoxing, Zhang Ye, Mo Weiqiang and Fei Liangyong. Among them Sheng Xue, Liang Youcan and Li Song were elected to be Vice-Presidents, Fei Liangyong to be President and Pan Yongzhong to be General Secretary.

Cai Chongguo was elected to be the President of the Supervisory Council and the other members of the Supervisory Council are: Wan Runnan, Wang Jinzhong, Zhang Xiaogang, Chen Nailiang, Zhu Jialie and Zhang Jie.

In the Year 2004 all members of the FDC united closely and worked hard, shoulder to shoulder, for the Chinese democracy movement. Their activities can be summed up as follows:

October 25, 2003

Directly after the 7th Congress, all the representatives present at the congress took part in a joint gathering in Frankfurt with Falun Gong practitioners. At the meeting people condemned the crimes of Jiang Zeming clique’s criminal suppression of Falun Gong and betrayal of territory in the north of China to Russia.

Afterwards, FDC issued a communique entitled “Bring Jiang and Mao to Justice, Promote Political Reform”. The working plan for the new council of FDC was drawn up at the same time.

November 12, 2003

The general headquarters of FDC and the Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars in Germany (VCSW) issued a joint statement relating to the arrest of the internet writer Du Daobing by the CCP. In the statement it was pointed out: Du Daobing has committed no crime. The only reason for his arrest is that his discourse has offended the Chinese regime. The case of Du Daobing is a typical example for CCP’s violation of human rights by depriving the Chinese people of their rights of free speech. This case shows that the so-called New Deal of Hu and Wen is a pure deception.

In the meantime, the general headquarters of FDC and the Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars in Germany wrote an open letter to the German Chancellor Mr. Schroeder before his visit to China. They requested that Mr. Schroeder confront the Chinese regime directly with the case of Du Daobing and other similar cases regarding intellectuals such as Yang Zili, Liu Di, Ouyang Zi, Luo Yongzhong, Wang Bingzhang, Yang Jianli and Wang Wanxing. In the letter they appealed for worldwide attention to the human rights situation in China.
